Skipping Halloween

Have you seen the movie, Skipping Christmas w/ Jamie Lee Curtis? Well thats how I feel about Halloween this year. I don't want to dig around the attic, decorate, make food & have our annual party. I'm just not feeling it this year. In the past several weeks we are already having little kids on bikes daily coming down and asking my husband when is he going to start decorating and can they help? Sheesh! So will it truly be like the movie Skipping Christmas when the neighbors were asking for Frosty that the week before Halloween the neighbor kids will be outside chanting "Wheres the grim reaper? Wheres the grim reaper? Bring him out, well hang him up!" While I am inside hiding?

I have begun a new lap/throw blanket for the couch.

&&& P.S.
I do NOT like all these blogger changes.
Especially the posting editor. Grr!

They already canceled a new fall tv show! I knew it!!! Thank God it wasn't one I was watching, and I had thought about it too! Lone Star on Fox.
mkay.... so I did end up watching a few more new shows and I have to say I love: Outsourced!!!! It is soooo funny. I also enjoy Blue Bloods & The Event. I sure hope they don't get canceled. :::crossing fingers:::

homemade sour cream is not my friend

With absolutely no plans for dinner, at the last minute I said, how about bean burritos? How I make them is so NOT healthy, after rolling them up, I brown/fry them in oil until crisp. Ted loves them... anywho... he asked if we had any sour cream (tofutti) and I said, no but I can make some sour cream!!! I had read about making sour cream before online.
So I searched the internet, found a recipe... and began adding the tofu to the food processor, lemon juice, vinegar, oil & salt and pulsed away.

I have one word: YUCK

It tasted like a really bad off brand of an eggy tasting mayonaisse. It was awful! But even after I gagged in the kitchen, I said to Ted, "here taste this." In which he got a huge finger full. I just died!!! LOL!!! I was rolling as he was gagging and coughing. HAHAHAHAHAHA

So needless to say, that was my little experimentation.
Note to self: never try that again!

And the burritos were just fine "sour cream" less. :-)

“I’ve always loved animals. When I was growing up, we had pets, and I was taught early on that you have to respect animals. All of the animals I have ever known, especially dogs, either like someone or they don’t. They can run up to some people and lick them, yet with others they just walk off because they are nervous. I always think that kind of thing probably says a lot. I honestly believe they have a sense about people and what they are like. But their charm is also their trust; when you have a pet, they have to trust you to take care of them. And that’s why I get so angry when you see animals hurt by [guardians] whom they trust.”

Fall TV

Have you been enjoying the new fall tv shows?
I for one am very guarded this year.
Year after year I would really get into a new tv show and then have it canceled on me. It would get so frustrating.

So this year I have only watched one new show: Mike & Molly and I very much enjoyed it and hope it doesn't get canceled on me. :-O

For now, Im just enjoying my old favorites.

I am still in shock that the Hoff got eliminated first on Dancing w/ the Stars! I thought the dance was slightly creepy but I was intrigued to see more of his dances.

Happy Fall Y'all

My favorite time of the year! :-)

I love the falls turning & falling,
pumpkins on porches,
the scents of cinnamon,
crackling wood, rain & hot coffee.

I need to get up in the attic
and get out my winter clothes
and all my Halloween decorations! :-)

I've also been craving apple pie
for weeks now and I need
to just go make one,
enough procrastination already. :-)

An old header of mine.
I would like to make those pumpkins again. It was fun, just bought sugar pumpkins and got out a fat black marker and tied on black checked ribbon.

I Stood By Your Bed Last Night

Beautifully written to help
with the grief of losing
one of our dear furry friends . . .

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep. I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear, "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea, You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore. I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care. I want to reassure you, that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key. I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair. I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be so near you everyday. To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew, in the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is over... I smile and watch you yawning and say "good-night, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide, I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see. Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me.

Amber text messaged me this photo yesterday and I texted back, "boston puppy?" She said, "yes my friends'."

Is this picture cute or what? :-)

Of course I would have totally LOVED if she had texted back, "Homeless boston terrier puppy needs to come stay with us for awhile." :-)

Connie's fridge

Connie's new fridge!!!

We ended up not going w/ the one we saw at Lowes awhile back, while shopping at Target (Damn you country living magazine showing me adorable halloween skull plates found at Target but they turned out to be plastic! Blech!) anyway... I'm rambling...

I saw this fridge that was available for college kids/dorm rooms now on clearance for $75! And since we are not using "gas" in Connie we don't need an expensive gas or electric RV fridge, I took pictures to show hubby. I also love that the front is a whiteboard so I can write fun messages while we are camping and be my usual dorky self. Tic-Tac-Toe anyone?

He loved it, said it would fit perfect, just a small gap on the top and sides and away we went to pick it up.

Lets find MOOSE

TAKEN SEPTEMBER 13, 2010 from the Touchstones Museum in Nelson, British Columbia, Canada.

His name is “Moose” and he has classic Boston coloring (B&W), 9-years old in 3 weeks, male, neutered, small scar on his eye from a cat scratch, missing one nail on his front paw. He was rescued by Boston Terrier Rescue Canada and adopted by Kristi Malakoff – Telephone (250) 352-0542 or (604) 762-5797. Email – or

Workmen at the library saw someone take Moose and head down the street with him. Kristi has not slept since he’s been gone. She has already contacted the police to file a report, contacted the media, put up posters… she is obviously devastated and very scared for Moose.

Please share everywhere you can think of and help bring Moose home!

Please always adopt cats, dogs and even rabbits from your local shelters or Humane Society or other reputable animal shelter. Otherwise millions of animals are killed because these places do not have room for more.

I created you

"I looked at all the caged animals in the shelter...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness and betrayal. And I was angry. "God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?" God was silent for a moment and then He spoke softly. I have done something," He replied. "I created you."

I saw this picture on someones facebook page.
This picture cracks me up!
Not on why you might thing
(::cough:: crazy dog lady)
But the fact that if the dog's facial expression looks like, if he could speak would be saying, "Alright Mom hurry up and take the darn picture already."

Another missing airport dog. Sigh.

Sept 1st!!!

Happy September!!!

I still just can't believe the summer months are over.
Fall will soon be down upon us.
Yesterday in our area, it rained all day.
A perfect send off for the last day of August.

Do you have any plans for September?
Most of you have been buying school supplies, new clothes and sending your children off to school. I have to tell you, I don't envy you one bit! I remember those days. I am so thankful my daughter is an adult.

The Puyallup Fair is in September. I love it! Amber will not have anything to do with it because of the animals involved. I enjoy it immensely! I love seeing the 4H animals and seeing all the crafts and all the "junk" for sale.

Ted has hurt his back, not once, but twice. Sooooo I don't think anything else will be done with "Connie" this season. She will need to be covered up and safely tucked away until next spring.

Here is to a wonderful month ahead of us! :-)
